Life is short. Eternity is forever! Most people give no thought to life after death. Their heart is set on treasures that will turn to dust, rarely considering their life from an eternal perspective. In my nation, I see parents pushing their children to achieve more, even encouraging them to cheat, be dishonest, and trample others to get to the top. The values they inculcate in their children revolve around worldly gain at any cost. Thus, they lose respect for people, their moral principles are distorted, and they find it hard to distinguish right from wrong. In comparison to eternity, our life on Earth is “swifter than a weaver’s shuttle.” The choices we make on this Earth have eternal consequences, especially our choice to make Jesus the Lord of our life. In Mark 8:37, Jesus asks us what we can give in exchange for our soul. The answer is nothing! Only the sacrifice of Jesus can save us, if we believe in Him.
