Why am I in this world? What is my purpose? Is there meaning to my life? How do I make my life complete and worth living? Each of us has a hunger for life and a real desire to find our purpose, and to understand and experience it — we are designed that way. There are two approaches to life. The first approach says to save your life — hoard it, cling to it, try to get hold of it yourself, trust yourself — what’s in it for me? The second says to lose your life — to give your life away and to invest in something bigger than you, to move out in dependence upon God. This is what Jesus wants all of us to do with our lives. The word “life” in Greek means “soul,” and this is the part of you that thinks, wills, and feels. Here you find your personality, your hope, and your aspirations. Your soul will be expressed in your life. Your life is a reflection of your soul. Which approach to life will you choose?
