At the commencement of His ministry here on Earth, Jesus Christ in the Sermon on the Mount gave us the principles for Christian living. In Matt. 5:7, He speaks of mercy. Mercy is a fundamental element in God’s character, which is intrinsic to Him, but given to man as part of His image in Gen. 1:26-27 and lost in Gen. 3. I have the unique privilege of leading the follow-up department in our church, where I see the attribute of mercy play out in a profound way. We allocate names and addresses of new Christians to members of the department with predetermined steps to follow. Some follow up diligently, while some do so halfheartedly, and others do nothing at all. What is the main reason behind the disconnect? Some people have yet to relearn mercy. We thank God for His Son Jesus Christ, who gave us the power to reacquire God’s mercy.

Haggai was a wonderful experience which has enabled me to realize the prime importance of winning souls for the kingdom of God and has helped me reorder my priorities.
