Nigerian roads, and indeed the other forms of transportation, are not safe. The roads are bad, and the activities of bandits, terrorists, and kidnappers are always in the news. The other day, while traveling in my car, I noticed a particular vehicle driving closely to me. I started suspecting him to be a kidnapper, so I decided to drive close to other travelers. All of a sudden and in the middle of nowhere, my car failed, causing a two-hour delay. While thinking of how I could quickly get help to avoid the potential kidnapper, I realized if he truly was, there was no escape for me. A few days earlier, the vehicle developed a similar problem, and my driver, who for health reasons could not travel with me, confirmed the nature of the problem and fixed it. Without the help of any mechanic, I called my driver and fixed the problem. At this point, I realized God had prepared me for the journey. Whatever efforts, smartness, or caution we make when faced with danger, unless God is involved, they amount to nothing. We must continuously put our plans in the hands of God to ensure our building is not in vain. We must allow God to be the essence of our living; otherwise, whatever efforts we make are in vain. Our plans and strategies will work with God as He guides us through. Let us not labor in vain.
