No doubt this is one of the most beautiful Psalms. There is something very interesting about it, as David starts by saying: “O Lord, you have searched me and you know me.” Then he describes all the ways in which God knows us, and yet, at the end, he asks God to search him. In the NIV translation, verse 23 reads: “‚¶ Know my anxious thoughts.” Being a psychologist here in Brazil, I’ve been seeing many cases of anxiety in my office for a variety of reasons. Anxiety leads us to ask God to do what we already know He does. At the same time we declare our trust, we also feel the need to be reassured. Our God patiently deals with our anxious thoughts and hearts. Keep believing. Keep trusting Him. He knows you — and still loves you!
