Human beings all over the world want to be in first place, always. This trend is prevalent in all areas — studies, sports, and business. Even in churches, some people come early to worship so they can occupy the front row. Our worldview is “The first will be first, and last will be last.” That’s how the famous quote came in to existence: “First come, first served.” But in the Kingdom of God, it’s backward. God exalts the humble and humbles the proud. He identifies with the poor and oppressed. He welcomes children and values women. Someone once said, “When people enter Heaven, two surprises await. The people we most expected to be in Heaven will not be there, and those we least expected will be there.” We must learn to think like God and humble ourselves, putting others first.
