Are you ready for the Bridegroom’s unexpected return? Wedding anniversaries, birthdays, and holidays always have dates, but the Bridegroom’s return is unknown. There is a saying in Madagascar: “Sudden things don’t respect you as a man,” which means to always be ready and to not be taken unawares. The best approach to any dateless event is constant preparedness. Genuine relationship with God, not religiosity, is all we need to be continually ready. The virgins represent the Church, and Jesus is the Bridegroom. This parable is a warning to the Church that the Bridegroom’s return will be unexpected. Are you ready to meet the Lord whenever He returns? Fill your faith in Christ with inexhaustible oil, and never be distracted by the challenges of life. Always take extra oil so you’ll be ready at the Bridegroom’s return!
