In Matt. 9:35-38, our Lord healed every disease and sickness, and He had compassion on the people, seeing that they were lost and without a shepherd. In Matt. 10, the verse begins with “and.” It is a continuation. Matt. 10:1-15 is the beginning of the Great Commission that was declared in Matt. 28:16-20. We are sent to heal the sick; to cast out demons; and to make, baptize, and teach new disciples, giving them the authority to do so. Once we realize we have the authority to heal every sickness and disease, we become bold to exercise His authority as we preach the Gospel. Our ministry is then no longer just preaching and teaching, but we take on His power to minister and expect miracles. After all, it is His promise, and He became the curse for us on the tree. Surely, He has borne our choli (Hebrew for sickness) and carried our makob (Hebrew for pain). For by His stripes, we are healed. (Isa. 53: 4-5).
