Jesus loved to use paradoxes and elevate humble people and things while describing the Kingdom of God: the unforgotten sparrows, the faith of a mustard seed, letting the little children come, and the least of these are just a few examples. Mountains are immovable because of their physical nature. A seed can move mountains because of its spiritual nature! Although the seed is so small it can slip through our fingers, Jesus chose this comparison to help us understand that faith is not qualifying efforts that lead to God’s satisfaction with us — faith itself qualifies our efforts. This is what turns the mountain around — faith has a voice! When faith speaks, it is the voice of God in a believer! Faith is credited to a believer as righteousness, and this is the righteousness of God. Faith moves our mountains!
