I like to think of Matt. 10 as the “how-to” chapter in the Bible. In this chapter, Jesus begins by giving His disciples assurance of the authority they have in Him, the message to share, how to travel, where to stay, and how to bring the Kingdom of God on Earth as it is in Heaven. Then, toward the end of the chapter, He issues a prophetic warning: “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the Earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.” He loves them enough to remind them there is an adversary, and it will be rough. This Scripture warns that the preaching of the Gospel will attract persecution! Be OK with it and prepare for it. This Scripture is telling Christ followers to not be fooled — when a kingdom invades, another must be overthrown. This will not look all dainty like the scene of a tea party. It will not be easy — Jesus says it. The Word of God is true and sharper than any two-edged sword. As you go, consider this Scripture, prepare yourself for persecution, and STAND.

My time at Haggai sent me down an avalanche of purpose. I did not expect it, but it did. I thought God would use sometime else, but because I showed up, He is faithful!
