In most African cultures, when a king or chief appears before the people, they all rush to welcome him with a greeting akin to worship. In fact, many cultures would only allow the “lesser” (i.e. followers or subjects) to greet the “higher” (king or chief), and not vice-versa. It is therefore not surprising to see the people in this Scripture rush to greet Jesus Christ immediately when they saw Him. What can we learn from this? As believers, we need to take advantage of every opportunity to reach out to Jesus Christ and worship Him. Daily, our hearts should yearn for Him even as a deer pants for the waters (Ps. 42). Our primary existence is to worship God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

As a development and humanitarian leader who has had the privilege of holding influential positions in various international organizations, my time at Haggai helped me see this privilege as a tool to reach out to many in the market place. Since my training at Haggai, I have had to refocus my purpose to ensure I become an effective tool in drawing many to Christ.
