When Jesus got into the boat, the disciples followed Him. Without warning, a furious storm came upon the lake and the waves swept over the boat. Amidst all this, Jesus was sleeping, while the disciples were panicking. They awakened Him, and He rebuked the winds and the waves. It became completely calm, and the disciples were amazed, saying, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea obey Him.” Living in Ethiopia/East Africa, we have been tossed by different waves and storms, especially civil unrest and ethnic conflict with bloodshed, as a nation. As Christian citizens, we have been calling upon the name of the Lord to calm the rising storms in our context. So many times, He has stilled the waves and the storms. We are living witnesses to our Lord that He is alive and is still Commander in Chief of the waves and storms of this world.
