We must maximize our opportunity to do good. Jesus and His disciples were walking and came upon a man who was born blind. The disciples asked Jesus to explain whose sin caused the man’s disability — the man or his parents? The disciples saw the man’s disability as an opportunity to discuss an agelong belief that sufferers of misfortunes are being punished for sins. Jesus would not objectify or debate on the plight of a man in need. Instead, He saw it as an opportunity to fulfill His mission (Luke 4:18): to do good, heal the sick, and preach the message of salvation to a lost world filled with miseries. Such open doors or opportunities to do good are often short-lived as the Scripture reminds us — there will come a day when no one can work.We are not to make a spectacle of sufferers or judge anyone, but instead explore opportunities to do good, offer healing, transform the lot of the helpless and hopeless, and preach the Gospel of light in a world filled with the blight of sin. Seize and act on the opportunity you have to do some good today and live as Jesus did.
