In my country, it’s common for people to expect to receive gifts, money, and well-wishes from others, even though there is a common proverb in our culture that says, “There is no dignity for someone who expects everything from others.” Today’s verse teaches us a third way, based on the love and goodness of the Lord. If I want support, love, money, or respect from others, we must do the same for them. Jesus, who loved us first, encourages us to love Him and to love each other. Otherwise, each time we desire something from others, or each time we take action toward our neighbor, we must ask ourselves if we would like them to do the same to us. This kind of reciprocity is based on faith, love, and sharing in contradiction to selfishness. The Lord, by expressing this truth, encourages us to put it into practice in our lives, because this truth is taught by the Law and the writings of the Prophets.

Since my return from the Haggai Leader Experience in September 2018, my spiritual life has undergone a remarkable change. The Lord has opened my eyes to the urgency of sharing the Gospel. My commitment as a doctor in the service of the poor people in rural areas is now accompanied by sharing the Gospel and equipping other health workers to do the same.
