When her boss asked Bridget to be at work on Wednesday evening to prepare for the board meeting on Thursday, she faced a difficult decision. It was her turn to serve widows and orphans that night. Should she choose work to earn more money and increase her profile with management, or should she serve God and others, which yields no physical cash, but offers heavenly gain? Bridget decided this choice was her opportunity to display who her real master was. She chose to serve at church. God wants our full allegiance and total commitment. Money, status, prestige, and human compliments may make us feel good, especially in cultures where money is valued over everything else. We must remember, money can enslave us, while serving the Lord gives joy and satisfaction. Our love for God is demonstrated by our loyalty. No one can serve two masters. Decide today to serve the Lord and love Him alone. Don’t be enslaved by worldly attractions. God is the master of all and will not be in competition with any other
