When we give offerings, pray, fast, prophecy, preach, or teach, we believe God is pleased with us. When you read through Deuteronomy, you will observe the various types of offerings God commanded the children of Israel to give and how and when to give them. People became fixated on the offerings, thinking that is what pleased God. But Jesus speaks the heart of God in Matt. 5:23-24. God is more interested in our relationships with each other, how well we love, care, forgive, and dwell with each other than any offering or service we can render to Him. “If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from Him: whoever loves God must also love his brother” (1 John 4:20-21). Above everything, let us prioritize our show of love for one another, for “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35).
