Have we mingled with the world’s ways? Are we swimming with the tide — conformed to the pattern of this world instead of transformed by the renewing of our minds? When we are surrounded by the ethics and morals of the world, we must be sharp as God’s salt, preserving our generation and flavoring society with God’s high moral and ethical code. In Ezek. 44:10, God is not pleased with His priests who compromised on His standards. God says, “But the Levites who went far from me, going astray from me after their idols when Israel went astray shall bear their punishment.” Our idols today look different from theirs: We worship money, popularity, acceptance, and fame. But there is hope! For those who resist the temptation of idolatry, God blesses and uses in mighty ways. Ezek. 44:15-16 continues, “But the Levitical priests, the sons of Zadok, who kept the charge of my sanctuary when the people of Israel went astray from me, shall come near to me to minister to me ‚Ķ” declares the Lord God. “They alone shall enter my sanctuary and draw near to my table to minister before me. They will keep my charge.” What a privilege to be God’s salt and to keep His charge!
